Modern terms for management operations require professional financial management not only in the organizations but also in the households. Implementation of appropriate financial planning, organization, motivation and control determines rationale cash management. For households, this provides a basis for better addressing their members needs. The paper deals with implementation of the management function of the household’s finances. It emphasizes the importance of both an active shaping of income as well as an appropriate pattern of routine expenses. Analyzes of data provided by the Central Statistical Office for Poland revealed some factors which influence on diversity of income and expenditure. They should be considered as particularly important and taken into account while making decision on shape of household’s finances.
