ABSTRACT
Unemployment and consequently poverty and marginalisation lead to
constraining activities in various spheres of life concerning both family
and functioning within its units. The most serious consequence of unemployment
for family is deterioration of its financial situation. Insufficient
funds for satisfying basic needs and realisation of family’s tasks deprive
adults and their children of educational and occupational aspirations, lower
the standard of housing, protection of the health, limit options of fulfilling
pedagogical assignment and participating in cultural life. The result of
it is also specific discrimination and “pushing out” of social environment;
it is a kind of automarginalisation. The poor families’ lives is characterised
by the sense of uncertainty and lack of stabilization. If fight against unemployment
didn’t become the priority of the Polish state, in the future it
might occur that many social groups wouldn’t be able to function as the
rightful citizens of our country.
