Objectives: In view of the growing financial involvement of the PRC on the African continent, the research hypothesis was formulated as follows: China's goal is to pursue strategic interests through financial cooperation with African countries. In order to verify the hypothesis, the following research questions were formulated: 1. What are the strategic interests of the PRC in Africa? 2. What is the value of the financial aid provided by the PRC to the countries of the continent? 3. In which sectors and on what conditions is Chinese development aid allocated? 4. Are there links between development cooperation and the strategic interests of the PRC on the African continent?
Material and methods: As part of the attempt to verify the hypothesis, three main research fields have been distinguished. The first part of the research concerns general issues related to the issues of financial aid and development aid, with particular emphasis on the specificity of the Chinese system of financial cooperation. The second part focuses on the characteristics of the financial aid provided by the PRC to African countries. The third part of the study is devoted to the analysis of the relationship between financial aid and the strategic interests of the PRC in Africa. The main tool used to achieve the above-mentioned goals is the analysis of Polish and English-language literature and statistical data.
Results: The hypothesis has been verified positively: China is trying to pursue its own strategic interests through financial cooperation with Africa.
Conclusions: The hypothesis has been verified positively: China is trying to pursue its own strategic interests through financial cooperation with Africa.
